(Re)programming the default settings into the FTDI FT232RL chip

"Tested with Arduino NG rev.c board."

Why?

If you did accidentally erased the FTDI's chip EEPROM. (I did while I was in search of interfacing the board with C#). I do hope this can put you out of misery :)

First things to do

1) Download MProg (tool provided by FTDI which is able to program the FTDI from USB "on-site")

2) Connect your board

Reprogramming the default settings (the hard way)

1) Open MProg

2) Click Tools > Read and Parse

3) Set the default settings according to the datasheet You'll see that you don't find all the settings in MProg.

4) Click the 'program' button (with the blue lightning symbol on it)

Reprogramming the default settings (the easy way)

1) Open MProg

2) Click Tools > Read and Parse

3) Load the default settings file

"Attach:default_FT232RL_Arduino_NG_rev_c.zip"
